Flour and water can so easily be tea and cake.

At the beginning of February I decided to make a start on my summer wardrobe and purchased two little floral numbers. Solid effort. A pretty little parcel was then delivered by my postman last week in the form of my Topshop midi tea dress. I know. How creative of me. In my defence it is a little beauty.

I'm not sure whether I was trying to get into the role of being a stepford housewife, in an attempt to mirror my clothing choice, but I was definitely on a cooking spree for the last 3 days. 'Mexican Friday' and 'Cupcake Saturday' were what it was about in the Nicholl household this weekend. And here is the photographic proof.

In the Summer time when the weather is fine.

With Easter almost upon us, it is time to put the winter warmers away and embrace the spring air. Each year, around this time, I begin to get that summer feeling! Hope sets in that perhaps this year will be a scorcher...more than likely not. On the up side: Now that London fashion week has drawn to a close it is time to begin the annual hunt for that perfect beachbabe look, afterall festival time is only a matter of months away.

Louis Vuitton Cruise Collection 2012
Since the March edition of Elle surfaced, with the vision that is Alexa Chung on the front cover, Louis Vuitton have gathered a great amount of press surrounding their embroidered peter pan collar jacket. Most of the national magazines like; Grazia, Vogue, Elle, have homed in on this gem. Perhaps I'm a sucker for a good bathing costume at the moment but the 'Cruise Collection', which first graced the world wide web in November, is more up my alley and is nothing short of a Corsican/Parisian dream! Captured by photographer Mark Segal, the collection is a mixture of sun-kissed goodness and parisian chic. The model Arizona Muse isn't bad either...

The King and I.

A new addition to my weekly tv schedule comes in the form of 'Hart of Dixie', starring Rachel Bilson and the one and only Jaime King. Although I do love a good chick flick as much as the next guy, my main attraction to this sickeningly sweet series is Lemon Breeland's wardrobe (Jaime King). It has given me a new aim in life, to become a 'southern bell'. Her character is cut-throat and opinionated and whilst wearing a 1960's tea dress becomes the woman I've always wanted to be. Too much? Well, just take a look for yourself.

In one of the recent episodes Ms King donned a horse patterned chiffon blouse which was, how you might say, beaut! The red and cream poka dot capri trousers (shown below) have a coincidentally similiar vibe to that of the New Zealand fashion brand, 'Twenty Seven Names'. The Wellington born fashion label has made waves across the industry in recent months, a 'wish list' post from their Spring 2012 range will be coming shortly. tbc...

Breakfast at Harrods.

On Tuesday 13th Decemeber 2011, Luella Bartley announced to the world that her brand 'Luella' would cease trading. This was a sad day for 'whimsical 1960's sundays best' fashion lovers everywhere. During a recent shopping trip to Harrods-Knightsbridge, I noticed that the new Miu Miu spring collection has a very Luella-esque feel to it. The pastel colours accompanied with the familiar cuts and bows from the Luella Spring 2011 Collection were very much present within the range. A particular dusky pink frilly blouse, reminiscent of a childhood dress I once wore (age 3-4yrs), caught my eye. It was sweet, and paired with dressy trousers or denim shorts would be my perfect dream summer staple.

The LUELLA Spring Collection 2011

Here is a one of my many desired 'after work drinks' outfits-

  1. Coat-  Miu Miu, Double-breasted cotton-gabardine coat, £990
  2. Peter pan collar jumper-  Miu Miu embroided cotton sweater, £570
  3. Trousers-  Miu Miu stretch wool-gabardine trouser, £270
  4. Shoes-  Mulberry signature pump, £395
  5. Clutch-  My own (Marks and Spencers- £25)

As I am on the topic of all things Miu Miu, I must post a photograph (along with my appreciation) of the new Limited Edition handbag range. The range comprises a grand total of 46 unique handbags, all handmade with their own mix of luxury fabrics and vintage flavour. I am torn between two designs from the collection, one glittery number which would be perfect for that night on the tiles, or a more regal and decadent ensemble which i can just imagine myself wearing with a navy peacoat day and night. This collection comes in at a whopping £1,595 for each bag. Dream big. Thats my moto! So, here they are, ta-da:

A little Delia Smith to begin with.

I'm a flake. It's my worst trait. Bright ideas are my speciality, it's just putting the gears into motion is the hard part. Creating a blog of my thoughts and fancies has been on the cards for quite some time, I just havn't had the guts to write to myself before now. I am going to start off with something simple and basic. Baking. Now that is a notion i have eagerly clasped onto of late..and I guess I am still a working progress. Considering today is 'the day of the pancake' I have decided to put my non-stick frying pan to the test. If Matilda can do it, so can I?

Ingredients:  1. Pancake batter
                     2. 'Send me on my way' by Rusted Root.
